Questions
Questions families ask
What ages and hours do you serve?
Pre-K is for children who are four by the start of the school year. The school day is 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., there's a half day in the morning, and before and after care run from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
How does a tour work?
Tours run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and last about half an hour. You see both rooms, meet the teachers and ask anything you like. Children are welcome to come along.
What sets tuition?
The schedule you choose, the days a week, and whether your child uses before and after care. The director goes over the amounts with you at the tour.
How is a place held, and how does the waitlist work?
A deposit holds a place and goes toward your child's first month. When the rooms are full, families join the waitlist, and we call as places open, in the order families joined.
Is Grain licensed, and what is the ratio?
Grain is licensed by OKDHS as a child care center. The ratio and group size for four-year-olds are shown beside the license.
What happens when a child is ill?
A child with a fever or a contagious illness stays home. If a child gets sick at school, we call you right away, and a teacher stays with them until you arrive.
What about photos of my child?
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
What should my child bring?
A packed lunch, a labeled water bottle, a full change of clothes and a small blanket for quiet rest. We provide everything else for the day.
Does my child need to use the toilet on their own?
Children in pre-K usually do, and a teacher is close by to help. If your child is still learning, tell us at the tour and we'll talk it through together.
How do you handle a hard day?
Every child has hard days. A teacher stays close, helps the child say what's wrong and find a calm spot with a book or a quiet job, and tells you about it at pickup.
